Did you know that sleeping under treated bed nets could reduce child mortality caused by Malaria by 20% globally?

An estimated 660,000 people-most of whom are African children die every year from Malaria. In South Sudan, Malaria contributes to 20-30% of health facility attendance during low season and up to 70% during peak season, mostly affecting children under the age of five.

“It is unacceptable for children to continue dying from a disease that is preventable and curable. There is an urgent need to mobilize and sensitize communities on the need and importance of using long lasting insecticide treated bed-nets,” said UNICEF’s Representative Dr Yasmin Ali Haque

Here’s an interesting piece from The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria on a community in South Sudan and the fight against malaria http://www.theglobalfund.org/en/closeup/southsudan-acommunityrises/
